"Getting Out of Rhode Island" (GORI) is a fully improvisational feature shot almost entirely in one evening.. The film centers around an Open House fundraising party for A Flash of Yellow Pictures. Capturing the dramatic actions of this event consisted of One LIVE 165-Minute shoot on the evening of Saturday, November 17, 2001 from 7-10pm.

GORI was shot on one main Mini-DV camera and two additional digital cameras operated by party guests. A wide lens expanded the clausterophobic environment by 60% and created the illusion of grander space. Lighting was all natural through uses of lamps and other related objects.

GORI's audio recording was done by wireless (and cleverly hidden) lavaliers on four of our principle actors, along with a sennheiser shotgun mic planted firmly on top of the camera. Sound was recorded by Ron Kuba of  IndigoDesign Group and designed by Josh Morrow..

GORI's shoot was halted twice during the LIVE event for reloading of video and sound. These breaks occurred every fifty minutes.

GORI employed many aspects of the Dogme‘95 manifesto. Click here to go directly to the Dogme‘95 site.
