Review Excerpt

From The Chaotic Order, U.K. Magazine , covering alternative media and culture since 1999; Issue #17:

Excerpt from a review on "Getting Out of Rhode Island: written by Bob Smith

"I am always somewhat wary of anything which claims a degree of improvisation, let along a complete improv., often they cover this through the term amateur being taken to a bizarre and disturbing degree, and the film ends in a horrible mess. So looking at this effort by Christian de Rezendes, and reading that the film is "a full improvisation shot in under 2.5 hours on the evening of November 17th, 2001..." I wasn't exactly looking forward to watching the thing. I needn't have worried too much as this piece of work following a party in which old friendships and animosities are brought out hangs well together with a cast who seem comfortable with the material available and add to it with their own personalities wherever possible. Adding to this are the DVD extras which give good insight into a process which has nothing behind it, no script, no real background, only perhaps a director's vision. Whether I'll see another decent improvisation piece is gonna be a good question, but at least there's one."
